Forums are full of such discussions on a wide range of topics. Lots of arguments take place over what are largely subjective comparisons. It is just that "better" (or "beat") is so subjective in such matters. One pair that gave me the "best" sound made my ears hurt within an hour's time. My most expensive headsets were around $50 but I paid less due to some rewards program. To be honest, headsets that cost more than around $40 generally do not sound much different/ better to me. The headset I like may sound horrible to you but my headset X beats (on that basis) headset Y. Maybe I cannot hear some of the higher frequencies as well. It is just that my sense of hearing may not match yours and I have a different perception of "quality" when it comes to sound. I'm not looking for any more specifics because I am capable of doing that myself once I am given other options of headsets. Just want to know if there IS a headset that beats the A40s in that way. I specifically asked "is there any PC headsets that beat the Astro A40s in terms of sound quality?". The forums and FAQs may also offer more information that will help you decide. Check the User Guide/Manuals to see what they tell you about the product. Read reviews and evaluations on products that pass/are acceptable up to that point. If at all possible try them on and listen to music.

Go out and look at headsets in your price range. Likewise the headset's fit and feel aka comfort is likewise subjective. Sound perception differs so quality can be subjective. Price often reflects quality (aka "better") and that must be considered - is the product made well enough to stand up to use in your environment? Is the cable long enough.? Well the "cheaper" part is easy - the price tag quantifies that with respect to your $60 to $100 budget.
